On The Importance of Domain Names

I recently started work on client’s new project. Basically they are starting a brand new shiny ecommerce shop and I’m supposed to head up the launch and optimization. Normally this would bore me to the point of death but today I felt inspired to start work on said clients project. I started out by doing some domain name research. I found the most boring keyword full domain name for the project and set out to help them create a business.

The basic tent of their business concept is mail order home roasted coffee. It’s such a small niche I’m sure they won’t do any business but I set out to help them do the best I could.

Utilizing tools like SEO Book Keyword Research Tools I was able to help them find this domain and help them compare themselves with potential search engine competition. I believe this is a good niche for this couple and thought what the heck I can help them.

I believe a solid domain that describes a business is really important start to good seo. This domain Mail Order Coffee Shop is perfect. It describes 100% to the searcher/potential customer what the store is all about. It creates instant authority with a powerful keyword rich domain and that in combination with solid link building and branding should create a powerful front end to the business.

Are You Afraid of Google?

Over the years I’ve developed a simple fear of Google. It’s not healthy. I’m seeing it pop up more and more among web developers and even small business owners who believe that Google is just too powerful and the real issue isn’t Google IMO it’s the lack of competition in the search engine playing field.

If someone can tackle that issue maybe there will be hope for the future.
